Overview
This is a 1-Day intensive training course designed for mediators who are qualified in other fields, such as civil and commercial, family, or workplace mediation, and are looking to enhance their mediation skills in a Neighbour and Community dispute context.
Our trainers use a blended approach, incorporating theory, practical skills and roleplays. Our training sessions are always a relaxed environment where you can develop your current skills, practise new skills, and receive valuable feedback.

The course covers:
- The Calm Mediation process
- Co-Mediation
- Managing difficult situations
- Ensuring high-quality, sustainable agreements
- Developing your practice as a mediator
Gain mediation experience with us after the course:
Upon satisfactory completion of the conversion course, there are pathways available to volunteer as a Calm Mediator in our Neighbour mediation service.

We look for committed, reliable individuals who wish to support the community and work within a dedicated and supportive team. You need to be able to travel to do in-person mediating within the London area, with notice, as well as online mediation. We offer our skills development training sessions to our volunteers free of charge, as well as a supervision program to support your practice.
“Very helpful course – I enjoyed the tips and hints, and the real-life roleplaying was great!”
–Neighbour and Community Conversion Attendee, 2025
