The legacy of the Family Team at Calm Mediation is continuing to develop while retaining its reliable & effective service for divorcing and separating clients.
Simeon Costa is now our Senior Family Mediator and has expanded the days we offer appointments, which are available in person or online. All our Family Mediators are registered with the Family Mediation Council at either accredited or qualified level.
We offer mediation for all types of family dispute. For those who need to sort out child arrangements and/or property & finance issues, we can assist even if matters have become highly contested or if there are vulnerabilities requiring additional support.
What’s the ‘Calm Mediation Family Team’ difference?
Calm Mediation is a charitable organisation and takes its commitment to our communities very seriously. There are less than 100 organisations left in the UK who provide free family mediation through a Legal Aid contract, (as payments have not increased since 2004) but we still have a strong reputation for this provision and are part of a national campaign for improvement.
Our mediator team has a depth and breadth of expertise that has covered a huge range of issues for previous clients – pets, international assets, grandparent contact, special needs, working with PODEs (pension on divorce experts), high conflict, pending court hearings….etc.
Child Inclusive Mediation
We have outstanding support from our Practice Consultant, Ursula Little, who has a track record of nearly 7000 cases in the last decade. Ursula provides our ‘Child Inclusive Mediation’ sessions. These are an opportunity for children to speak privately with a specialist mediator. There is a growing body of evidence that this opportunity to be heard can reduce mental ill health during parental separation. Find out more through the Family Mediation Council.
What does it cost?
We offer Child Inclusive Mediation sessions without charge and keep all our costs down, to provide everyone with access to our high quality mediation service. The Government Voucher scheme – £500 for mediation costs – is available through our service and we offer mediation without charge, through Legal Aid, for those who are eligible.
Who else can Calm Mediation offer?
Simeon joined us in early 2022 after a first career as a project manager for leading retailers (household names that we can all recognise!). He brings his communication, analytical and problem-solving skills across to his mediation practice, together with a ‘customer-focus’ approach to support clients to get the most out of their sessions.
Our team is further complimented by Joanna Kemp who offers a warm approach combined with clear explanation of the process and options.
Finally, Alison, the Family Team’s Coordinator, is experienced and supportive to assist clients to access Legal Aid and Voucher funding for their case.
Our Family ‘solutions’ options include support for resolving disputes amongst extended or intergenerational family members.
You can find more about our service, our charges and our clients through the Family section of our website. Have a look, share it with someone you think could benefit, or get in touch – 0300 102 3033 or family@calmmediation.org.
