Divorce or Separation mediation – via our partner services
We are able to signpost you, for Divorce or Separation mediation, to our partner services’ highly experienced family mediators, who can help you to agree arrangements for your children, property and finance. After ten years offering mediation for divorce and separation, Calm Mediation no longer provides this service. Mediation puts you very much in control of making your own decisions. Compared with going to court, it is quick, effective and low in cost. Experienced Divorce & Separation mediators are available at:
- Southeast Mediation (private & government voucher funding) https://www.mediationsoutheast.
co.uk/ - South East London Family Mediation Bureau (private, legal aid & government voucher funding) https://www.selfmb.org.uk/
- or via the Family Mediation Council’s ‘Find a Mediator’ resource. https://www.familymediationcouncil.org.uk/find-local-mediator/
Why have you made this change?
Calm Mediation has been resolving conflict across London for nearly 40 years. We have an excellent track record for:
- providing consistently high quality mediation
- managing challenging financial scenarios
It is therefore exceptionally disappointing to reach the stage of closing our divorce and separation service.
Funding for low-income families to access divorce and separation mediation is under unprecedented pressure and, as a community-based charity, we put great effort into keeping this option accessible for the last ten years. However, with the Legal Aid payment for this service remaining unchanged since 2004 it is not possible to continue at present. If you think this situation should be improved, see https://www.mediation4all.co.uk/ We continue to offer our conflict resolution services and training in many other areas.
We offer support for Extended Families in conflict
Family members frequently have different opinions and may fall out with each other. Usually, these situations can be repaired relatively quickly but sometimes the families become stuck in dispute. This situation can be upsetting and stressful for all involved. We offer support to have a constructive conversation and to find a way forward that everyone feels will work.
If you are experiencing a family dispute situation and would like to know more, please complete an enquiry form here: Make an Enquiry.
We offer Inter-Generational mediation.
Across the generations there are sometimes differences in approach, expectations and values. Examples of situations which may escalate to conflict are: adult children living with older parents; changes in communication, (such as when a family member moves away), a clash of attitudes to behaviours (such as ‘good manners’ or ‘respect’). These difficulties may surface in the home, community or workplace. We offer a chance to ensure that each person can be heard and a new framework created for the future relationship.
If you are experiencing a difficult inter-generational situation, please get in touch through our enquiry form here: Make an Enquiry.
We offer Elder Mediation
Elder Mediation is based on a wellness model that promotes a person-centred approach for all participants; it is mindful of the older person(s) while respecting the rights of each person participating. Regardless of the numbers present, each person is unique with his or her own narrative, intrinsic value, strengths and weaknesses. Through the Elder Mediation lens, aging is viewed as part of a continuing process of development and change, rather than just a period of physical and cognitive decline
