What led you to become involved with Calm Mediation?
Throughout my work within the community and CJS I began hearing more reports of those who had caused harm and those harmed taking part in ‘Restorative Justice’ (RJ). The process appeared to have a life-changing positive effect on both parties, allowing them to move forward with their life in ways I had not heard or seen previously. This really appealed to me! Keen to learn more and become active in restorative practice I became involved with Calm Mediation as they offered training programmes which once completed enabled me to gain the knowledge and skills required to safely practice as an RJ facilitator.
Tell us about your experience of the RJ Service and what that means to you.
The RJ Service provides services to a wide range of organisations and people, and you can tell that it has a long-standing history of restorative work through the wealth of knowledge and expertise demonstrated within the team. I find it does a great job in bringing a variety of different organisations and people together as it has many clients and covers many London boroughs. Being part of the RJ service means that I keep up to date with my continued professional development, feel supported within my restorative practice and can play a part in helping provide our communities with access to restorative justice as a means of repairing the harm of crime.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
I would choose teleportation as my superpower. With life being so busy and hectic at times, having the power of teleportation could save a lot of time getting places and it’s a better way to travel for our environment!
